About
2nd Abbotsford Port Neptune Sea Scouts
The 2nd Abbotsford Port Neptune Sea Scouts are located in Abbotsford - an inner west suburb of Sydney, Australia. The group celebrated its 75th continuous year in operations in 2007, and is looking forward to a busy Year of the Scout 2008.
History
Originally founded in 1932, 2nd Abbotsford is one of the oldest Sea Scout Groups in Australia. The Group moved to Abbotsford Point in the late 1930’s and occupied the old Bathing Sheds. In 1968, Drummoyne Council provided the current dilapidated hall - a second-hand workmans shed, relocated from Five Dock.
The hall and boatshed have been demolished. The sailing boats, canoes and row boats are now in storage elsewhere which significantly restricts their usage and the activities of the Group. The Group now meets in the nearby Five Dock scout hall.
A new hall on the original site is now under construction, with an anticipated opening later in the year.
